Airbag light

Hello.

I have a Vectra B 1998. Recently changed battery and generator, and now my airbag light is glowing in the dashboard. Any ideas what may be wrong, or if it is just an electronical "reset" of my system that is required. How can I achieve that, then?

Hello Ken,

you must go to the Opel dealer and allow to reset the mistake code. If the mistake appears afterwards again, it is the plug under the seat.

The first step should be to consult your dealer's garage (Opel directly, not any third party garage), as Sigg-B-V6 already mentioned. Then, they have to read out the car's memory with the diagnostic device called "Tech 2" (and this is the reason not to go to any third party garage) to collect the information about the error code that made your airbag light glowing. It COULD be the plug under the seats, but there are many other possible sources of malfunction - so I think it's a bit cocky to say that it would be the plug.
Also it's possible that the error was only temporary (maybe in cause of your repair) and the airbag light wouldn't appear again if the error code was deleted - and therefore the Tech 2 is needed, too, because the light wouldn't disappear without deleting the code.
